Robbie Williams made open confession about ‘sexless life’ with wife Ayda

Robbie Williams has made a very honest admission about his sex life with wife Ayda Field. Robbie and Ayda have been married for 15 years and have four children – Teddy, 12, Charlie, 10, Coco, six and Beau, four.  The pair were actually set up by a mutual friend before they eventually started dating in 2007. Almost 20 years on and Robbie has opened up on their relationship and specifically, their sex life.

“Everyone knows there’s no sex after marriage,” Robbie told The Sun back in 2023. “No sex in a marriage is only a problem if you’re on different pages; if one person wants it, and the other doesn’t; if you have different expectations or requirements. “But really, everyone knows there is no sex after marriage. That’s just the way it is.” Robbie also spoke about how things were different when he was taking testosterone for a time, which he described as ‘incredible’.

“But the sex we had when I was on testosterone was incredible; it was all the time. We were insatiable. It goes to show how into each other we really are, though, because when I was on it, we couldn’t take our hands off each other,” he added.

“I miss that. That was a fun period. Sometimes now, though, Ayda will turn to me on the sofa and say, ‘We should do sex,’ and I’m sitting there eating a tangerine and just sort of shrug. So, ya know, sometimes we try.”

Ayda, who was also being interviewed for the publication, added: “I think people confuse sex for intimacy. We are always cuddling and kissing, holding hands, and touching each other when we are just watching TV on the sofa, or a movie, or whatever.

“Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love. I have friends who feel obliged to have sex with their husbands and that must be awful.

“Me and Rob are on the same page. We are happy.”

A few years ago, Ayda opened up on her sex life with Robbie, calling it ‘completely dead’ back in 2022. “I don’t actually remember the last time I went to bed with Rob at the same time,” she said on her Postcards from the Edge podcast.

“When there was romance, when that happens, yes, there would be a communal sleeping place just out of physical need.

“But now that that’s completely dead. It’s been obliterated by four kids. There is really no need to go to bed at the same time. It’s just a joint work space now. “I might as well make the bed like a ping pong table and we could just play every now and then. And stray off into other corners to sleep.”

Although sex might be considered a taboo topic by many, Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field seem more than happy to discuss their bedroom antics – or lack thereof. The couple, who got hitched back in August 2010, previously revealed that they have a ‘sexless marriage’, but both of them insist they are ‘happy’ with things being this way.

Former Take That star Robbie revealed that they ‘couldn’t take their hands off each other’ a few years ago, however, his and Ayda’s sexual appetites have since significantly subsided. “No sex in a marriage is only a problem if you’re on different pages; if one person wants it, and the other doesn’t; if you have different expectations or requirements,” he told The Sun in 2023.

“But really, everyone knows there is no sex after marriage. That’s just the way it is.” The father-of-four – who shares kids Teddy, 12, Charlie, 10, Coco, six and Beau, four, with Ayda – explained that his libido was at an all-time high when he was taking testosterone. Robbie said he and his wife had ‘incredible’ sex ‘all the time’, explaining: “We were insatiable. It goes to show how into each other we really are, though, because when I was on it, we couldn’t take our hands off each other.”

But after he stopped the hormone replacement therapy, which he began after doctors told him he ‘had the testosterone of an 80-year-old man’, Robbie said his sex drive slumped – and it’s stayed that way.

Reflecting on how things have changed, the Better Man star, 51, added: “Sometimes now, though, Ayda will turn to me on the sofa and say, ‘We should do sex,’ and I’m sitting there eating a tangerine and just sort of shrug.

“So, ya know, sometimes we try.”

Ayda also addressed why she isn’t as passionate with her husband these days, explaining that they instead connect with each other via other forms of closeness.

“I think people confuse sex for intimacy,” the Los Angeles-born actress said. “We are always cuddling and kissing, holding hands, and touching each other when we are just watching TV on the sofa, or a movie, or whatever.

“Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love. I have friends who feel obliged to have sex with their husbands and that must be awful.
