Indy Clinton, a 25-year-old mom from Sydney, Australia, has been making headlines for her unconventional choice of baby name. After giving birth to her newborn daughter, Indy decided to name her Bambi, inspired by the classic Disney character. However, not everyone is a fan of the name, and Indy has faced harsh criticism online.
Despite the backlash, Indy remains unapologetic about her choice. A popular TikTok creator, Indy shares quirky videos featuring her family and has gained a significant following. She recently took to TikTok to reveal that she had chosen the name Bambi for her daughter, coincidentally around the same time that Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague announced that she had also named her baby daughter Bambi.
Indy’s love for the Disney movie Bambi dates back to her childhood. She has even purchased a storybook version of the film, which she regularly reads to her 2-year-old son, Navy. When her daughter was born, Indy was immediately struck by her sweet and curious nature, as well as her big, brown eyes, which reminded her of the Disney character.
Initially, Indy had planned to name her daughter Paloma, but after meeting her baby girl, she was inspired to choose the name Bambi instead. Now, four months after her daughter’s birth, Indy’s extended family is still surprised by her unconventional choice.
Indy’s response to the criticism is refreshingly candid. “You know, unique names are the new trend,” she says. “Bambi is going to fit right in with the Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs. I’d be more concerned calling my kid a name from the 1900s. People will criticize anything these days, so at least give them something to talk about.”
